Ph.D. Born 12 August 1959 in Aarhus,
Denmark. Danish citizen. Cand. Scient. in biology, Aarhus university (1988); Ph.D. Aarhus university
(1992). He is in charge of the University of Aarhus
Herbarium. He teaches various subjects at the university, including vegetation
analysis, biogeography and macroecology. He was Principal investigator on a
Danced-funded curriculum development and capacity building project in Sabah,
Malaysia (1995-1998). Research interests are Systematic botany with emphasis on the families
Palmae, Marantaceae and Araliaceae, notably the interrelation between functional
morphology, ecology, and speciation processes. Biogeography and conservation of
tropical flora. Ecology and management of Danish vegetation.He
has supervised
more than 20 M.Sc. students in Denmark, Latin America, Sabah and 2 Ph.D
students.
